PERMAcast Wins New Perth Stadium Contract

Mundijong based precast concrete manufacturer, PERMAcast will play a major role in construction of the new Perth Stadium.

PERMAcast has been chosen by Weststadium Consortium’s construction contractor Brookfield Multiplex to supply the concrete seating platforms on which spectator seats will be mounted.
The plats will total over 3,000 individual units which when joined end to end will stretch close to 30 kilometres. Over 20,000 tonnes of concrete will be poured during a manufacturing period stretching through to May 2016. More than half of PERMAcast’s modern manufacturing facility will be converted and dedicated solely to the manufacture of the stadium seating plats. PERMAcast will then dedicate approximately 35,000m2 of its ample storage capacity for laying out the plats, prior to delivering the units to site in a carefully co-ordinated manner to suit Brookfield Multiplex’s construction program.

PERMAcast Sales & Marketing Manager Rasmus Sorensen said that large scale modern manufacturing and storage facilities combined with in house technical capabilities were essential for success on this project.

This announcement comes on the back of PERMAcast’s recent award by Laing Orourke for supply of over 1000 individual trench units for the Wheatstone LNG project at Onslow. Together, the contracts are expected to boost turnover by more than $30 million for the privately owned precaster which was established in 2007, and will see PERMAcast further increase its workforce and overall manufacturing capacity.

PERMAcast Managing Director Alberto Ferraro said the company had established itself as the State’s leading supplier of complex, large scale precast products. It had completed major contracts for the Pluto, Gorgon and Apache LNG projects and was precast supplier for WA’s largest desalination plant at Binningup. PERMAcast also supplied an array of products including bridge beams to the State’s $1 billion Gateway WA project.

“The stadium project involves high end technical engineering work so it is pleasing to see that Brookfield Multiplex has demonstrated their faith in us and their commitment to using local content and local suppliers,” Mr Ferraro said.

“This work will have significant flow-on benefits for our suppliers and for employment in this rapidly growing geographical area.

“On big projects like these, our strong preference is for the work to be done locally to ensure the State gets full benefits, not just of the projects themselves, but the construction phase and future skills base also.”
